Kano Sports Commission To Camp 173 athletes for 22nd National Sports Festival Ogun 2025

As the 22nd National Sports Festival “Gateway Game”, is set to hold in Abeokuta Ogun State, team Kano is once again proving it’s domination in Northern region in Nigerian Sports, in terms of winning medals in the last NSF.

Kano is to participate in 18 to 19 events that comprised teams and individuals events.

The Ag Chairman of the Kano State Sports Commission, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar Fagge in a statement confirmed that team Kano secures tickets in both male and female categories in Handball, Football, Volleyball and Beach Volleyball during North West zonal elimination in Kaduna state.

Responding to the team’s remarkable performance during the zonal elimination, Fagge, expressed delight on their performance, as the state qualifies in Football for the first time in over two decades to represent the north west zone, saying that Kano will also participate in cycling.

Ibrahim Fagge assured that Kano State is fully prepared to defend it’s position and even move up to the next position in Abeokuta, the capital city of Ogun State.

Fagge confirmed that a total of 173 athletes that will represent Kano will be camped for two weeks before the kickoff of the National Sports Festival next month.

He also urged the athletes and coaches to remain focus to justify their status as number one sporting state in the North.

Kano will participate in Handball male and female, Football male, Volleyball and Beach Volleyball male, Dambe /Kokawa male and Golf male and female.

Others are gymnastics male, Judo male and female, karate male and female, kickboxing male and female, para power lifting male and female, swimming male and female, taekwondo male and female, wrestling male and female, Kunfu, boxing cycling, Chess male and female as well as weightlifting.

The 22nd National Sports Festival Tagged ‘Gateway Game’ will commence from 16th to 30th of May 2025.
