The Kano State Government, under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, has signed two landmark agreements to promote sustainable energy development in the state.

This was disclosed by the State Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy, Dr. Gaddafi Sani Shehu, at the ongoing Nigeria Renewable Energy Innovation Forum (NIREIF 2025) organized by Rural Electrification Agency (REA) taking place at Transcorp Hilton Abuja.
The Commissioner said that the meeting brings stakeholders together to discuss innovative solutions for renewable energy development.
Dr. Gaddafi Sani announced that Kano signed plans to develop a 1200 solar power plant and Create Solar panels factory Manufacturing with the Tricell Solar Solutions LTD and IRS Energy limited aimed at increasing electricity generation and promoting renewable energy
He pointed out that these initiatives demonstrate the Kano State Government’s commitment to harnessing renewable energy sources and reducing dependence on traditional energy sources.
The Commissioner added that the projects are expected to increase electricity supply, promote economic growth, and enhance energy security in the state.
He explained that Kano State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) focusing on renewable energy, agriculture, and commerce.

The Commissioner disclosed that the agreement aims to attract Other Investors in investments from the world with a focus on renewable energy and solid minerals development.
The delegation from Kano State included:- Engineer Ado Ibrahim Umar Doguwa, Managing Director, Kano Hydro and Energy Development Company (KHEDCO).
– Engineer Sani Bala Dambatta Managing Director, Rural Electrification Board and Engineer Abduljabar Muhammad Nanono, Deputy Managing Director, KHEDCO.
