The Ministry of Solid Mineral and Natural Resources has successfully contracted competent vendors to collect the Mining Road Transport Tax on behalf of the state government. This initiative relates specifically to the transportation of Ilminite, Cassiterite, and Columbite within Doguwa and parts of Tudun Wada local government areas.
In a press statement issued by the Director public enlightenment Adamu Ibrahim Dabo Anipr MNGE, stated that the introduction of the vendors was led by Commissioner Alhaji Hamza Safiyanu Kachako, who was represented by Alhaji Muhammad Bala, Director of Solid Mineral Exploration.
The meeting took place at the Council in Riruwai, the headquarters of Doguwa local government area.
The Ministry has partnered with two contracted vendors, Bum Bum Universal Concept Nigeria Limited and Exxaco Nigeria Limited, to handle tax collection from seventeen mining companies. This initiative is in accordance with the provisions outlined in paragraph 16, part 2 and 4 of the Taxes and Levies Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
Commissioner Kachako emphasized that this initiative has the full backing of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Its primary objectives include enhancing revenue generation for both the state and local government, formalizing artisanal mining, and creating approximately 50,000 employment opportunities for community members.
On his part the Chairman of Doguwa Local Government Area, Alhaji Abdurrashid Rilwan, represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Rabiu Muhammad Tahir, urged the tax collection companies to prioritize the welfare of their staff and to ensure fair practices in their operations.
He expressed gratitude to Governor Yusuf’s initiative for establishing a specialized Ministry for effective management of the solid mineral sector in the State.
Key stakeholders in the region, including the District Head, Divisional Police Officer, and representative from the Nigeria Civil Defence Corps, pledged their cooperation in enhancing security throughout the area.
Director of Operations for Bum Bum Universal Concept Limited, Dr. Abba Ismail, along with Alhaji Nura Sagir of Exxaco Nigeria Limited, committed to organizing periodic stakeholder engagement meetings.
These meetings aim to foster collaboration and ensure that the objectives of this initiative are met effectively.
