UNGOGO LGA PARTNERS KSPHCMB TO COMBAT DIPTHERIA

The Ungogo Local Government Area (LGA) has announced a strategic partnership with the state Primary Healthcare Management Board to eradicate diphtheria from the community.

This was issued in a press release by the information officer of the LGA Salisu Kassim Yakasai.

The statement reveal that the Chairman of Ungogo LGA, Alhaji Tijjani Amiru Bilyaminu, confirmed this development while receiving members of the KNCDC/PHCC Committee on a courtesy visit in his office.

He emphasized that his administration is committed to collaborating with all health agencies to achieve rapid and sustainable improvements in the health and well-being of the people of Ungogo.

Speaking during the visit, the Chairman of the Primary Healthcare Management Board, Professor Muhammad Adamu Abbas, stated that the visit aimed to strengthen disease surveillance and community sensitization to protect Ungogo from deadly communicable diseases.

He commended the local government council for its proactive steps and dedication to safeguarding public health.

The Director of Administration, Alhaji Ubale Magaji, urged all health workers in the area to provide timely data and updates to the council to help prevent potential outbreaks.

Traditional leaders also pledged their support for the initiative, as the District Head of Ungogo, Magajin Rafin Kano Alhaji Nura Shehu Ahmed, and the District Head of Gundumar Zaura Babba, Alhaji Sunusi Abubakar Tofa, assured full cooperation from traditional leaders, ward heads, and other stakeholders to ensure the success of the health intervention.

Representatives of primary health care department, including Hajiya Jummai Ahmed and the Councilor for Health, Shafiu Usaini Kura, reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with healthcare workers to completely eliminate the threat of diphtheria in the area.

The event was attended by the Vice Chairman of the Local Government, the Leader of the Councilors, and several directors from the Kano State Government.
