Tarauni LGA Reaffirms it’s effort in environmental Sanitation

The Chairman of Tarauni Local Government, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim Muhammad Sekure, has reaffirmed his commitment to combating the spread of gastroenteritis (GE) in the Gyadi-Gyadi South area of Tarauni Local Government.

Hon. Ahmed Sekure, who led his councilors and health officials to assess the affected areas, expressed deep concern over the outbreak and assured the community that Tarauni Local Government will take all necessary measures to eliminate the disease and safeguard public health.

The chairman has directed health officials to visit various sections of Gyadi-Gyadi to educate residents on environmental and food hygiene, as well as the importance of accessing clean drinking water. According to Adamu Iliyasu Hotoro, the Tarauni LG spokesman, Hon. Sekure has issued a one-week mandate for all residents to clean their surroundings, warning that swift action will be taken against households contributing to waste accumulation near drainage channels.

Additionally, chairman instructed health workers in the area to promptly clean and sanitize water drainage systems in Gyadi-Gyadi to maintain environmental cleanliness and curb the spread of the disease.

The Head of Primary Healthcare in Tarauni, Hajiya Saratu Ibrahim, and the Health Education Officer, Alhaji Musa Abdullahi Shamakawa, confirmed that the chairman has provided necessary medications for affected individuals.

New sanitation measures have also been established to ensure safe drinking water and an improved environment.

The affected areas include Layin Sarkin Malamai, Layin Kwata, Layin Alhaji Yahaya Baffa, Layin Mai Saje, Layin Abdullahi Kirki, Layin Inuwa Gajeran Mallam, and Layin Alhaji Isah Da’u.

Gyadi-Gyadi South Councilor, Hon. Shamsuddeen Tashir, reiterated his commitment to improving public health and urged residents to cooperate with health officials by following health guidelines and adopting preventive measures, such as avoiding contamination of drinking water sources along with waste.

He expressed gratitude to Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim Muhammad Sekure, health workers, community leaders and local officials for their support in swiftly addressing the gastroenteritis outbreak.
