The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Kano State Chapter, under the leadership of its Chairperson, Sayyida Bahijja Kabara, and the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Kano State Chapter, led by Justice Salma Danbaffa, extend their heartfelt appreciation to His Highness, Mallam Muhammad Sanusi II, the Emir of Kano; Her Excellency, the wife of the Governor of Jigawa State; and all other stakeholders who have contributed their efforts toward addressing the unfortunate case of the young girl who was subjected to a brutal act of sexual violence.

The Chairpersons commend these stakeholders for their unwavering support in seeking justice for the victim and providing a voice for the voiceless. They urge continued collaboration to ensure that such heinous crimes are not only condemned but also addressed with the seriousness they deserve.

NAWOJ and FIDA express deep sympathy to the young victim, whose suffering is beyond comprehension. The use of objects such as a spoon and scissors in this assault is a reprehensible and barbaric act that highlights the urgent need for stricter measures to prevent such incidents.

While expressing their collective outrage and condemnation of this act, the Chairpersons call on parents, guardians, and communities to remain vigilant and promptly report cases of abuse and violence to the relevant authorities. They emphasize the need for victims and their families to come forward without fear of stigma or retribution, as justice can only prevail when such cases are unveiled.

The organizations also call on law enforcement agencies and the judiciary to expedite the process of bringing the perpetrator to justice, ensuring that this young girl receives the justice she rightfully deserves.

NAWOJ and FIDA reaffirm their commitment to advocating for the rights and safety of women and children while working tirelessly to end violence against vulnerable members of society.

Together, we stand united in the fight against all forms of violence and injustice.
