The Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA) today commenced a one-day capacity building training for members of the Students Contributory Healthcare Programme (SCHEP) Committees across eight Colleges of Nursing Sciences and Schools of Health Technology in Kano State.
The training, held at the Agency’s Conference Hall, was aimed at equipping SCHEP Committees with practical knowledge of KSCHMA’s operations, including claims management, data entry, referrals, and related processes.
The event was chaired by the Executive Secretary of KSCHMA, Dr. Rahila Aliyu Muktar, who in her address emphasized the importance of strengthening the capacity of SCHEP Committees as key drivers of contributory healthcare awareness and education within their institutions.
She urged participants to maximize the training to better support their peers and ensure effective sensitization on the benefits of the scheme.
The training featured technical presentations delivered by KSCHMA resource persons, with sessions designed to provide hands-on guidance on contributory healthcare procedures. Participants engaged in interactive discussions, sharing insights and seeking clarifications on operational processes.

A key highlight of the event was the presentation of appointment letters to the chairmen of the SCHEP Committees, formally confirming their leadership role in coordinating contributory healthcare sensitization, peer education, and student engagement within their respective institutions.
At the close of the session, participants pledged to cascade the knowledge gained to their colleagues and ensure that SCHEP is effectively implemented in their schools.
KSCHMA reaffirmed its commitment to providing students with access to affordable and quality healthcare services throughout their academic journey.
