Cognizance to the need of creating conducive learning atmosphere for 18 Northern States Students of Exchange Programme schooling in Kano, Kano State Government has distributed over 80 Mattresses to fresh students under the programme.
In a press statement issued by the director public enlightenment of the ministry of education Balarabe Abdullahi Kiru.
Distributing the mattrasses to Students of the Exchange Programme at Government Secondary School Gwarzo, the State Commissioner of Education Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda represented by the Director Monitoring and Evaluation Auwal Mustapha Gadon Kaya said the provision of the Mattresses was in line with the present administration’s commitment of improving teaching and learning atmosphere of the students.
Dr. Makoda explained that 55 Mattresses were distributed to Exchange Students of Government Secondary School Gwarzo while 25 mattresses.were distributed to Students of the Exchange Programme at Government Girls Secondary School Shekara.
He disclosed that for more than ten years, the Students of the Exchange Programme had not been given this gesture despite the fact that it is part of the programme’s guidelines for the hosting state to provide the exchange students with mattresses, pillow, bucket, Beds and other things that would make them live comfortable.
“When the present administration came, we realized that these students have not been given mattresses and other items for more than ten years that is why this government reintroduced the gesture.
Last year, 80 mattresses were distributed to the fresh students and this year also we do the same ” he said.
He added that the present administration of Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf would continue to take bold steps of improving the learning environment of the exchange students to achieve the programme’s objectives.
Dr. Ali Makoda commended the effort and good foresight of Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf in boosting the education sector, stressing that more plans are underway to enhance the quality of education in the state.
he Principal of Government Secondary School Gwarzo Comrade Sani Haladu Gwarzo and his counterpart of Government Girls Secondary School Shekara Amina Yahaya thanked the Governor for reintroducing the gesture.
