The Director-General of the Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board (KSPHMB), Professor Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim, has disclosed that Kano State is on the verge of being declared polio-free.
He made this known while receiving members of the Kano State Forum of Information Officers during a courtesy visit to his office.
Professor Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to sustaining polio eradication efforts and strengthening routine immunization across the state.
The Director-General also commended the Governor of Kano State, Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf, for giving due priority to primary healthcare, particularly maternal and child healthcare services in rural communities.
He expressed appreciation to the leadership of the Kano State Forum of Information Officers for the visit, which he said was aimed at strengthening collaboration and sustaining a productive working relationship.

He assured the Forum that the Board would continue to work 100 percent with Information Officers to effectively publicize its programmes and activities.
Professor Salisu further pledged to organize a capacity-building training programme for Information Officers in Kano State within the year, as part of efforts to strengthen public awareness, health communication, and community engagement.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Kano State Forum of Information Officers, Comrade Sharif Zaharaddeen Usman Kofar Nasarawa, said the visit was to reaffirm the Forum’s commitment to sustained collaboration with the Management of the Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board and Information Officers across the state.
He stressed the importance of close cooperation, particularly in the Board’s polio immunization campaigns and other health-related programmes.

He also appealed to the Board to always include Information Officers in all categories of training and capacity-building programmes organized for health workers.
