In a significant effort to promote transparency and accountability in the distribution of humanitarian assistance, a sensitisation meeting on RUTF (Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food) was held in Rimin Gado Local Government Area with representatives from UNICEF.

The meeting, which took place at the Palace of the District Head of Rimin Gado LGA and Member of the Kano Emirate Council, Alhaji Auwal Mudi Yakasai, at about 10:00 a.m., brought together key stakeholders from various sectors to deliberate on strategies to prevent the diversion of and ensure it reaches the intended beneficiaries.

The state delegation at the meeting included Hajiya Halima Ishaq, Director of Special Assignment from the Ministry of Information; the Kano State representative of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Alhaji Balarabe Yusuf; and the UNICEF representative, Dr. Onuga.

The meeting focused on raising awareness about the negative consequences of diverting humanitarian aid, emphasizing that such practices deprive vulnerable individuals of much-needed support and undermine efforts to address malnutrition within communities.

Stakeholders were urged to remain vigilant and actively monitor the distribution process to safeguard these humanitarian supplies and ensure they benefit the rightful recipients within their communities.

In conclusion, participants reaffirmed their commitment to working collaboratively with government agencies and development partners to uphold transparency, accountability, and the overall well-being of the people.
