Journalists from Kano and jigawa states urge to embrace professional journalistic reporting of children that have been violated.
Disclosing this during a two day training organised by Kano state radio corporation in collaboration with UNICEF, the Managing Director kano state radio corporation Alhaji Abubakar Adamu Rano in his welcome remarks charge the media participants on the importance of the event, he said that the engagement of the media as a critical tool for information dissemination to the general public has to be equipped with modern reporting techniques on children issues in the country.

Representative of the Managing Director Hajia Aishatu Usman said that the training came at the right time as protecting the identity of the children that have been violated should be ensured, as the lives of the minor will not be compromised in the future.
She then advice participants to be attentive in other to make judicious use of the opportunity rendered to them.
On his part the UNICEF Kano field office Dr karanveer singh, enumerating extensively on the context of child protection with Nigeria having a diverse ethnic, religious background similar to India with different backgrounds and beliefs and culture as this needs to be taken into cognisance for journalists to report fair balance and accurately.
“we may have our own views but we should keep it aside it connects the society when a journalist report accurately, he said.
Karanveer urge reporting on children who are vulnerable in the society should be taken with caution as the sensitive nature of the reportage might harm the dignity of the minor in future.
He then said that the identity of the Victims of violence should be withheld in terms of names pictures locations all need to be avoided.

On her part the Lagos Nawoj chairperson as well a facilitator, jimoke falayi, said that any child related cases need to be protected especially when reporting on children related cases protecting the dignity of the child is very important to safe guard the future of the child to prevent retraumatizing the child.
She urge the participants to always apply the law and principles of the child rights Act in their reportage.
At the end of the presentations Group exercise was shared among the participants to test their knowledge of understanding of the presentations.
