National Assembly House committee on Ecological funds to Address Erosion sites in kano

The Chairman House Committee on Ecological funds, also a member from Zamfara State, Hon. Aminu Sani Jaji made the disclosure today in Kano in a special visit along other Honourable Members of the Ecological funds Committee who visited Kano to see the real situation of the devastating Erosion sites in Kano and write a comprehensive report to the Federal government to quickly intervene he said.

In a press statement release by the Director public enlightenment ministry of environment and climate change Ismail Garba Gwammaja.

“Hon. Jaji said we visited Kano State like any other states we have visited so far purposely to see the real situation by our selves and the unpleasant conditions caused at the eroded areas and what we will do as a committee to quickly bring succor to the affected sites and also compile a comprehensive report for government urgent intervention, that is what we’re here for the Chairman said “.

He expressed dissatisfaction on the devastating situation caused by the Erosion in some affected areas in the state.

However, he expressed optimism that his committee would do everything possible with out any further delay to articulate and compile a sound report for government of the federation to intervene quickly.

Hon. Jaji also commended the state government and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change in particular for their concern and unwavering commitment in addressing this challenges from escalating to some parts.

Meanwhile, the state commissioner for Environment and Climate Change Rt. Hon. Nasiru Sule Garo who took the Ecological funds Committee of the National Assembly to some eroded sites, narrates how erosion is consuming farmland, roads, property and sometimes loss of lives among other issues.

He appealed to the committee to do the needful having seen the reality by themselves to submit their report and assessment about Kano situation on erosion for prompt intervention.

Areas visited by the committee includes, Getso Erosion site in Gwarzo Local Government Area, Rarin in Dawakin Tofa, Bulbula Gayawa in Ungogo and Kwankwasiyya city in Kumbotso Local Government areas respectively.
