A critical training program for Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Nutrition Health (MNCNH) Champions has officially begun in Kano State.

In a press release issued by the co-chair knowledge Management committee Nafisa Ahmed Murtala.

The initiative aims to equip selected champions with essential advocacy and communication skills to significantly reduce the number of pregnant women who die from excessive bleeding after childbirth, a condition known as Postpartum Hemorrhage (PPH).

This was known in a  press release issued by the co-chair Kano state led Accountability Mechanism ( kANslam) knowledge Management committee Nafisa Ahmed Murtala.

As this program underscores a shared commitment to enhancing healthcare outcomes and promoting innovative solutions.

The champions will be specifically empowered to advocate for and support the Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board (SPHCMB) and the Free MNCH Drugs Distribution Committee.

A key focus will be advocating for the consistent supply and distribution of the E-MOTIVE package at both primary and secondary healthcare facilities.

This will enable champions to drive meaningful change and improve healthcare delivery at the grassroots.

Through this training, MNCNH Champions will gain a deeper understanding of these life-saving innovations and develop the necessary social and behavior change communication skills to effectively engage both health Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) and communities.

They will also network with key stakeholders, sharing best practices in advocacy and communication to reduce maternal mortality through the widespread adoption of the E-MOTIVE package.

“No woman should die bringing forth a new life,” stated Kanayo Precious Omonoju, Program Manager at CCSI, during her presentation on social behaviour change at the training. “We believe this initiative will have a significant impact on the lives of many individuals and communities.”

The MNCNH Champions training program is a testament to the commitment of the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN) and its partners to innovation, advocacy, and community engagement.

We eagerly anticipate the positive impact our champions will make in the coming years.
