As the world marks the International Day of Persons with Disabilities today, the Kano State Initiative for Persons with Special Needs (KIPSN) joins the global community in celebrating the diversity and resilience of persons with disabilities.

In a press statement issued and signed by the chairman KIPSN Abdulrazaq Ado zango.

He said on this occasion, KIPSN wishes to emphasize on the need for inclusive action to address the challenges faced by persons with disabilities in Kano State.

We call on the Kano State Government to implement the Persons with Disabilities Commission Law as amended in 2022, which aims to promote the health, education, and social well-being of persons with disabilities from different clusters in the state.

Furthermore, KIPSN urges the state government to implement at least 2% employment opportunities for persons with disabilities in various ministries, departments, and agencies. This will not only promote inclusivity but also tap into the talents and skills of persons with disabilities.

In line with the 2023 theme for International Day of Persons with Disabilities, KIPSN also requests for political appointments and inclusion of persons with disabilities in political leadership positions at the local government and state levels.

This will ensure that persons with disabilities have a voice in decision-making processes that affect their lives.

As we celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, KIPSN reaffirms its commitment to promoting the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in Kano State.

We look forward to working with the state government and other stakeholders to create a more inclusive and accessible society for all.
