Kano State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation has taken a significant step towards addressing the state’s humanitarian challenges and poverty reduction plans.
A delegation led by the Commissioner of the ministry Hajia Amina Abdullahi Sani met with the United Nations team in Abuja.
In a statement issued by the Director Public Enlightenment, Kano State Ministry of Humanitarian and Poverty Alleviation, Halima Sani Gadanya, said the meeting was aimed at exploring strategic partnerships and collaborations between the Ministry and the UN to address humanitarian challenges and poverty reduction plans in the state.
This partnership seeks to leverage resources and expertise to enhance the impact of ongoing interventions.
The Kano State delegation included Technical Adviser Dr. Aminu Magashi Garba and relevant directors from the Ministry.
They met United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, Mohamed M. Malick Fall, along with, UN Consultant, Maryam Uwais and, Acting Head of the Resident Coordinator’s Office Thembekile Dube-Ncube.
Discussions centered on aligning the state’s initiatives with the UN’s frameworks to effectively tackle poverty alleviation, social protection, severe malnutrition, food insecurity, and humanitarian interventions.
Both parties emphasized the importance of strengthening institutional support to achieve sustainable solutions.
The successful meeting marks the beginning of a fruitful partnership between the Kano State Humanitarian Ministry and the United Nations.
This collaboration demonstrates the commitment of both parties to addressing the humanitarian needs of Kano State.
