Kano Suspends End of Month Sanitation Exercise for Sallah Celebration

The Kano State Government has suspended the end of Month environmental sanitation exercise for the month of March 2025.

In a press statement issued by the director public enlightenment of the board Ismail Garba Gwammaja.

The state Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change Dr Dahiru Mohammad Hashim has announced the suspension of the end-of-month sanitation exercise for the month in honor of the upcoming Sallah celebration.

“According to the Commissioner the decision was made to allow residents to focus on the sallah preparation which is just around the corner the government deemed it fit to allow people being the commercial hub for northern states couple with the influxe of other people from neighboring states for commercial purposes during this season”.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner further explained that the sanitation exercise on Friday for Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies MDAs, Motor parks and Market Places would still hold as usual on Friday the 28th March, 2025

He said the ministry is committed to maintaining a clean and healthy environment, but also recognizes the importance of cultural and religious celebrations.of this nature he stressed. 

The Commissioner also pointed out that the suspension of the sanitation exercise is a testament to the government dedication to balancing its responsibilities with the needs of the community.

The end-of-month sanitation exercise will resume in April 2025.

The ministry encourages residents to continue practicing good hygiene and sanitation habits during the suspension period and after.
