KANO FIRS COMMENDS KANO GOVERNMENT ON PROMPT PAYMENT OF TAXES

In an effort to boost revenue for the nations development, Federal inland revenue service celebrates customer service week in the state.

In his welcome remarks the FIRS monitor Fatuhu Adamu said that it has achieved 92 percent of its annual target by sept 2025.

“The local success proudly transferred of the national achievements of 24 trillion naira collected against an annual target of 25 trillion naira by the first as a whole, it is likely to surpass the target in the first quarter which is a remarkable trajectory drive by non- oil revenue growth, which now accounts to 50 percent of the total collection, he said”.

He appreciated the efforts to the federal MDAs, state MDAs and the 44 LGA of Kano state for their prompt payment of taxes.

The first Monitor stated that tax payers are of great value because they are the drivers of development of any country.

He said that since 2007 FIRS has embark on numerous strategic reforms towards having a more simplified taxation process and maximizing the revenue through investments in technology.

He appreciated the management and staff of the Kano firs for their dedication and selfless service to duty at all times.

 

On his part the commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affiars Alhaji Mohammed Usman recall when an inter Agency committee was constituted on tax invasion of the tax identification known as the TIN number which was later computerized in 2009- 2011, it was a time everyone was mandated to have a TIN number whether an individual or corporate organisation.

The commissioner added that this time around people are encouraged through voluntary compliance as now the process is being made easy and transparent.

“You access and make payment without any interference from any tax collector he emphasized’.

Alhaji Usman said that since the inception of the Abba Kabir Yusuf administration there has been prompt payment of taxes by the Kano state government.

And then thanked the FIRS Kano office in bringing them on board to celebrate the customer week.

The commissioner advice the FIRS to strategize in having an outlet in public spaces like markets to inform people on the importance of payment of taxes.

He call on them to as a matter of importance to appreciate the tax payers in building of roads, schools or providing boreholes as a token of appreciation to the community.

On his part the chairman of DALA LGA, Alhaji Surajo Ibrahim Imam also appreciated the FIRS for the award conferred on him as one of the best performing LGA in revenue generation, and call on individuals, corporation bodies and government organisations not to relent in the prompt payment of taxes as It is used for the development of the country.
