K-SAFE Heightens more on primary school Enrollment campaign Drive

Kano state accountability forum on Education has organized it’s second and third quarter review meeting at the SBMC hall in the state universal basic Education board  (SUBEB).

The meeting was to critically look inward on what the forum had done within the year to see to what can be reviewed, monitored and documented on the progress recorded so far or contrary to it centered around education sector in the state.

This was made known by the K- safe chairman Dr Awwalu Halilu during an interview with media at the SBMC hall.

He highlighted on the some of achievements that have been recorded within the 2nd and 3rd quarter of the year 2024.

IMG 20241119 WA0195Dr Halilu, said that one of the major challenges encountered is on how to come up with a solution if any challenge was discovered and finding ways of resolving the issues.

“And if there is need to advice the government concerning to these pressing issues they will try to do all their possible best or if it is discovered the issues are in relation to the parents they will also have to look at it, he stated”.

Chairman k-safe added that within the committee, some members were assigned to go to some selected schools in about seventeen LGAs on the school enrollment campaign drive

“As presently this is what we have been discussing to get first hand information about attitude of some people in the communities not allowing their children to go to school what are the major constraints behind children no longer enrolled into schools,” Dr Halilu emphasized.

He however said that a strategic plan has been put in place on how to achieve a tremendous impact within the span of one year in the education sector.

He said k-safe is currently monitoring schools as the state executive Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has procure and disburse school materials, so constant monitoring is very necessary.

Some of the achievements under review is K- safe within the quarter has sponsored and trained some classroom teachers on the job to become experts in their field of work as this is ongoing and will be continuous.

Kano Emirate council To address plight of children

Dr Awwalu said that before the resumption of new school year, ksafe was able to sew fifty school uniforms to some orphans and vulnerable school children in the state as a motivation for them to attend school as well a reconstruction of toilet facilities, classroom writing materials (chalks) were provided to some selected schools.

He said that it will be recall, k-safe went to the state house of Assembly for an advocacy visit to the chairman house committee on Education as this even prompted and a convincing revelation made the state Executive Governor to proceed in declaring a state of emergency on the education sector.

The chairman ksafe said that a policy document is currently been harmonize on public private partnership as the state government alone cannot address the issue of education in the state.
