Friday Sanitation Exercise Records Huge Success – Hon. Commissioner for Environment

Friday sanitation exercise held across offices, markets, and motor parks in Kano State has been described as a resounding success by the Honourable Commissioner of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Dr. Dahiru Muhammad Hashim.

In a press release issued by the director public enlightenment Kano State Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Murtala Shehu Umar.

The Commissioner who was represented during the exercise by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Environmental Sanitation, Engineer Abdullahi Shehu Bichi, led the State Taskforce Committee on Sanitation to key locations including the Abattoir along IBB Way and Yan-Kifi at the Kano Cooperative.

During the inspection, the committee assessed sanitation practices, hygiene standards and the general cleanliness of facilities.

Speaking at the event, Engineer Bichi expressed his satisfaction, stating: “This is quite impressive.” He emphasized the need to maintain cleanliness and urged all stakeholders to continue supporting sanitation efforts.

Sarkin Fawa Kano, Alhaji Isiyaku Alin Muli, and the Chairman of the Fish Sellers Association, Sulaiman Abubakar Haruna, joined the committee to inspect slaughter sites, waste dumps, and fish freezer storage facilities.

Both leaders commended the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for its consistent efforts and leadership in promoting public hygiene across the state.

They pledged to continue adhering to the hygienic guidelines and recommendations provided by the Ministry of Environment, recognizing that the administration’s regular sanitation advisories and community outreach programs have significantly improved sanitary conditions in Kano.

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change reiterates its commitment to building a cleaner, healthier Kano and calls on residents to participate actively in tomorrow Saturday’s general sanitation exercise.

All residents are advised to stay at home between 7:00 am to 10:00 am to clean their surroundings.
