FGN DONATES FARM IMPLEMENTS WORTH BILLIONS OF NAIRA TO JIGAWA

Federal Government has donated farm implements worth over ₦5 billion to the Jigawa State Government to enhance food production across the state.

The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, made this known while speaking in Dabi town, Ringim Local Government Area, during this year’s Wheat Farmers’ Green Field Day.

He explained that the donation was part of the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting Jigawa State in expanding commercial agricultural production.

Senator Kyari also commended the Jigawa State Government and farmers for their dedication to both wet and dry season farming, emphasizing that their efforts have impressed the Federal Government.

The Minister commended the commitment of Jigawa state government and farmers for supporting the federal government’s initiative of boosting wheat cultivation through the provision of farm inputs and modern techniques.

In his speech, Governor Umar Namadi reiterated his determination of the present administration in the state of introducing more policies and programs that will create job opportunities, wealth and food security.

According to him, he had already procured 300 tractors, improved seeds and other farm implements for massive cultivation of different crops across the 27 local government areas of the state.

Earlier in his welcome address, the State Commissioner of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Alhaji Muttaqa Namadi explained that, the federal government has released 3,500 metric tones of certified wheat seeds and 10,000 water pumping machines to support wheat cultivation in the state.

The Minister, his entourage and Governor Umar Namadi also visited a number of wheat farms in Yakasawa and Dabi in Ringim local government area.

The items donated by the federal government include 10,000 water pumping machines, 10,000 litres of insecticides, liquid fertilizer and spraying machines.

Some of the dignitaries that attended the occasion include, the Director General of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria FRCN, Dr Mohammed Bulama, traditional and religious leaders, representatives of flour milling association of Nigeria, wheat farmers and some top government officials.
