DRPC partners Kano Women Affairs Ministry on Women’s Economic Empowerment Policy

Commissioner of Women Affairs, children and disabled Hajia Amina Abdullahi HOD declares a     successful implementation of Women’s Economic Empowerment Policy in Kano State.

In a Press statement issued by the Director public Enlightenment Bintu Nuhu yakasai

Speaking at a half-day socialization meeting on the Kano Women’s Economic Empowerment Policy, organized by dRPC at the Dangote Business School, Bayero University, Kano, the Commissioner emphasized on the importance of empowering women economically.

“Our goal is to increase women’s participation in the economy, improve their livelihoods, and enhance their resilience to climate change.

We believe that by implementing this policy, we can unlock the full potential of our female population and drive sustainable economic growth in Kano State,” she stated.

The Commissioner urged stakeholders to work together to ensure the successful implementation of the policy, saying “We must join hands to create opportunities for women to access finance, markets, and economic resources.”

Amina pledged to strongly advocate for the implementation of the Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) Policy to Kano State Governor.

She emphasized the importance of this policy, which aims to lift over two million women out of poverty by 2029.

The Commissioner recognizes the significance of empowering women, not just as a matter of social justice, but also as a driver of sustainable development.

She believes that investing in women means investing in families, communities and the nation.

The WEE Policy is designed to provide women in Kano State with opportunities to achieve their aspirations, contribute to economic growth, and build sustainable livelihoods.

Director of Partnership Development and Communication at dRPC, Malam Hassan A. Karofi, has reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to supporting Kano women in overcoming poverty through the implementation of the Women’s Economic Empowerment Policy.

He said this policy aims to bridge the gender gap in financial inclusion and provide job opportunities for women.

As a seasoned expert in communication and development, Karofi emphasized the importance of empowering women economically to stimulate growth and development in Kano State.

The Women’s Economic Empowerment Policy is a crucial step towards achieving gender equality and promoting sustainable development in Kano Statee said.

Other notable speakers at the meeting included Muttaka Iliyasu Yakasai, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs, Sadiya Bichi, SA to Kano Governor on Women Affairs Ministry represented by the Director of Women Affairs of the ministry, Bilki Shafi’u, Umar Ahmad, Senior Program Associate, dRPC, and Prof. Bala Kofar Mata, whose specialization added depth to the discussions.

These speakers, along with the Special Adviser to the Kano Governor, joined forces to emphasize the importance of women’s economic empowerment in Kano State.
