Former Deputy Governor of Kano State and current Chairman, Board of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, Alhaji Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, distributed 400 bags of 5kg rice to the Kano Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ) for onward distribution to various chapels and media workers as part of his Ramadan Humanitarian Initiative.

During the distribution event, Nasiru Gawuna, represented by his aide Alhaji Mansur Gawuna, emphasized the need to support journalists, given the significant role they play in democratic development.
Gawuna stated, “I consider journalists as partners in progress in every aspect of life. Their role in information sharing is vital and can never be underestimated.”
He explained that his aide, Aminu Umar, served as chairman of the distribution exercise in collaboration with the leadership of the Kano NUJ

In his remarks, the chairman of the NUJ Kano Council, Comrade Suleiman Abdullahi Dederi, appreciated the gesture from the former Deputy Governor of Kano State, noting that Gawuna has long maintained strong media relations.

According to Dederi, “This is a significant media engagement from the former Deputy Governor, Nasiru Gawuna. He is well known for his cordial relationship with the media. On behalf of all our members, let me express our profound appreciation for this gesture.”
