The Kano State Government has taken a significant step toward improving healthcare delivery with the provision of modern medical equipment worth millions of naira to Gala Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC).

The newly supplied items were officially unveiled yesterday in the presence of the Honorable Commissioner, Ministry for Public Procurement, Project Monitoring and Evaluation (MPPPM&E), Comrade Nura Ma’aji Sumaila, at the PHC premises.

Speaking during the unveiling, the officer in charge of Gala PHC, Malam Jamilu Alhassan, expressed appreciation to the state government, noting that the facility had received hundreds of new equipment as part of the government’s broader healthcare reform.

He emphasized that the upgrade would not only improve service delivery but also ease the burden on medical staff and patients in the area.

The project covers the supply and installation of essential medical equipment and furniture, including hospital beds, mattresses, blankets, drip stands, sphygmomanometers, stethoscopes, weighing scales, thermometers, wheelchairs, gynecological sets, and laboratory incubators, among others.

Meanwhile, in a related development, the Kano State Government has issued a stern warning and final ultimatum to all contractors handling the ongoing five-kilometer road projects across the state.

Commissioner Ma’aji Sumaila, while inspecting some of the projects, reiterated Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s directive that all contractors must complete their respective projects on or before December 2025.

“All contractors of five-kilometer roads must deliver by December this year, with the exception of five local government areas where work was suspended due to peculiar challenges,” the commissioner declared.

During his visit to Sumaila Local Government, he decried the slow pace of work, stressing that the ultimatum still stands. He urged the contractor handling the project to expedite efforts, warning that the ministry would return soon for reassessment.

Among the projects inspected were the 24.4 km Panda–Hamdullahi–Albasu to Sakwayan–Dutse road and the Takai five-kilometer road project, where the commissioner emphasized the government’s determination to ensure timely delivery.

According to him, the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf will not compromise on quality and timelines, as both health and infrastructure development remain at the heart of its agenda for the people of Kano State.
