Kano Solid Minerals reiterates On Environmental protection

 Kano State’s commitment to environmental protection and public safety in mining areas continues to be a top priority.

In a press statement issued by the Director public Enlightenment Adamu Ibrahim Dabo

The Commissioner Alhaji Hamza Safiyanu during reiterates this during a crucial interactive meeting held on Tuesday at the Ministry’s conference room.

The meeting followed an Enlightenment presentation by Dr. Abdurrahim Mudassir, the Northwest Zonal Director of the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) , and his team.

Commissioner Safiyanu expressed his satisfaction with the presentation, highlighting its educational value.

He pledged to enhance collaboration towards collective environmental protection and sustainable development in mining activities across the state.

The presentation included a detailed review of the environmental protection laws relevant to the mining industry, aiming to inform stakeholders about their responsibilities regarding environmental conservation.

The Commissioner stressed the significant risks associated with environmental degradation, emphasizing that all stakeholders stand to suffer if the environment is compromised.

In his response to inquiries from senior officials within the Ministry, Dr. Mudassir encouraged the Ministry to collaborate closely with the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development.

He underscored the importance of developing effective policies and regulations to combat illegal mining operations and enhance environmental mitigation efforts through the effective utilization of the Solid Minerals Development Fund.

Permanent Secretary Engineer Mansur Yakubu, on behalf of the Ministry, expressed gratitude to the NESREA Kano Zonal Office for their informative visit and reaffirmed the Ministry’s dedication to environmental stewardship while fostering collaborative relationships to uphold regulatory standards in the mining sector.
