Bauchi community of practice on immunization, budget tracking accountability visit the deputy Governor

The Coordinator of AHBN, Dr. Aminu Magashi Garba led members of the Bauchi State Community of Practice (CoP) on Immunization Budget Tracking, Accountability and Sustainability to an advocacy visit to His Excellency, the Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Rt. Hon. Muhammed Auwal Jatau, ‘Madugun Katagum’ to his office today, Thursday 26th September, 2024.

In a statement made available by the knowledge management officer suleiman jalo said, Dr. Magashi who intimated with the Deputy Governor on the visit, is to advocate for more Routine Immunization funding in the state to aid the reduction of Zero Dose Children and reach the missed communities.

In his address, the Bauchi State Deputy Governor welcomed and appreciated AHBN commitments towards improving health services.

“I want to begin by expressing our sincere gratitude to the Africa Health Budget Network for your unwavering commitments towards improving health services across not only Nigeria but the continent.

Your advocacy for increase funding for immunization resonate deeply with our vision for a healthier Bauchi State” he said.

He disclosed that the Bauchi State Government have paid and release its 100% 2024 RI counterpart funding to the tune of Four Hundred and Ten Million Naira.

He further disclosed that Eight Hundred and Seventy Million Naira was captured as the projected immunization budget for 2025.

Delivering a vote of thanks, the Chairman of Bauchi State CSOs Forum, Mal. Jinjiri Garba appealed to the Deputy Governor to work towards strengthening BHETFUND, an agency created by law to mobilize resources to support the health sector. Communities of Practice (CoPs) on immunization budget tracking, accountability and sustainability were created in Bauchi, Borno, Kano and Sokoto States by AHBN under the Zero Dose Learning Hub project being implemented in consortium by AHBN and AFENET with finding from Gavi.
