The Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA) has continued its series of enrollee town hall engagements with a successful interactive session held today at Bunkure Primary Healthcare Centre, Bunkure Local Government Area.

Organized through the Department of Standards and Quality Assurance with support from the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), the town hall created a platform for enrollees, healthcare workers, and community stakeholders to openly discuss service delivery challenges, provide feedback, and promote accountability within the state’s health contributory scheme.

In a press release issued by the public relations officer KSCHMA  Aminu Ahmed Turaki.

While Representing the Executive Secretary of KSCHMA, Dr. Rahila Aliyu Mukhtar, the Director of Administration and General Services, Amina Sani Usman, delivered the keynote remarks.

She reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to responsive and people-focused healthcare delivery:

“This town hall is part of our strategy to strengthen healthcare services through inclusivity and accountability. We are here to listen to your experiences and ensure that your concerns guide our continuous improvement efforts.”

She further noted that the initiative reflects the vision of His Excellency Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf that prioritized equitable, affordable, and quality healthcare for all citizens, particularly the vulnerable.

Speaking on behalf of CHAI, Dr. Kabiru Gulma commended KSCHMA for its leadership in institutionalizing grassroots engagement:

“When communities are given a voice, health systems become stronger. KSCHMA is setting the standard for participatory governance in healthcare delivery.”

The highlight of the meeting was an interactive Q&A session, during which enrollees expressed overall satisfaction with the contributory healthcare scheme.

They, however, raised concerns regarding drug supply, referral processes, and the need for additional equipment at the facility for better support for maternal and child health services.

KSCHMA assured participants that their concerns would be documented, reviewed, and integrated into the Agency’s ongoing service improvement framework.

The Agency pledged to continue the town hall engagements across all LGAs, institutionalizing feedback-driven governance for improved healthcare delivery.

The Agency expressed appreciation to CHAI, SPHCMB, community leaders, healthcare providers, and enrollees for their active participation and contributions to the success of the event.
