Kano State Accountability Forum on Education, in collaboration with the Girl Child Education Partnership and supported by PLANE, has commemorated the International Day for Persons with Disabilities.
The event which held in Kano, brought together stakeholders to address the challenges faced by people with disabilities (PWDs) and explore actionable solutions.
Speaking at the event,, Co-Chair of the Kano State Accountability Forum on Education (k- safe), Dr. Auwal Halilu, emphasized the need to identify and tackle the barriers affecting PWDs.
“Our focus is to engage in meaningful discussions to understand the issues faced by people with disabilities, hear directly from them, and collectively develop solutions,” he stated.
The discussions revolved around policy implementation and the establishment of a commission dedicated to addressing the needs of PWDs.
Dr.Halilu highlighted the importance of such a commission in devising and executing strategies to alleviate the challenges faced by this group.
He also underscored the Kano State Government’s commitment to ensuring access to education for all, expressing optimism that authorities would heed the concerns raised and take steps to address them effectively.
