The National Agency For the prohibition of Trafficking in persons in collaboration with the Family Health Care Program have organized a stakeholders Town Hall meeting on ways to present those suspected of committing child abuse crimes in an orderly and law-abiding manner.
While inaugurating the meeting, the NAPTIP Commander in charge of Kano zone Alh. Babale Abdullahi said the meeting was organized for security officers, security groups, traditional rulers, journalists and the community to explain to them the strategy to take action against the child offenders.
The head of investigation of the agency Rabe Ibrahim Jibiya said that there are strategies that should be followed in collecting the necessary information when children are abused urgently.
He said the process are reporting to security agency, collecting data at the moment, pictures and recording statements.
Dr. Abdulwahab from the Murtala Mohd Specialist Hospital said that it is preferable to rush to the hospital as soon as child abuse is found because in this way there will be good results that will show the evidence that it has been committed or not.
In her speech, Rukayya Yahaya Mohd, gender and social change adviser under ‘ICHSSA 3’ projec, said that they are supporting education and self-employment for victims of child abuse in order to earn a good future.
He explained that the project which was founded by USAID is taking place in Kano, Jigawa, Yobe and Borno states which is designed to provide conducive atmosphere for survivors.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary of the Kano State Council of Ullman, who is a chief imam of Khubah Friday mosque, Mallam Ibrahim Abubakar, village head of Gundun Albasa Engr. Alkasim Yaqub and Barr. Aisha Hammond of Leaf Africa Abuja and some victims who were supported by partners of the project.
