KNSG Inaugurates committee To repatriate Street children

Kano State Government has inaugurated a seven -man committee on repatriation of street children which is headed by the Commander General, Kano State Hisbah Board, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa.

 In a press statement issued by the public relations officer, cabinet office Musa Tanko Muhammad.

Secretary to the State Government, Dr Abdullahi Baffa Bichi inaugurated the committee on behalf of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano state, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Inaugurating the committee, Dr Abdullahi Baffa Bichi stated that this step was taken after a request by Kano State Hisbah Board on looming security dangers if the activities of street children were allowed to go unchecked.

He stated that many public and private buildings had been taken over by by such people where a lot of crimes were conceived and hatched.

This, he said, would not be unconnected to the influx of people into the state from different places, specifically those facing security challenges, such as banditry, kidnappings and other crimes.

Dr Abdullahi Baffa Bichi added that the security and peaceful nature of the state is of great value to the present administration and the state government is determine to ensure the state is practically cleared of all sorts of crime.

To this end, street children must be repatriated to their states and local government areas of origin.

The committee is tasked with the responsibilities of coming up with arrangements for the repatriation of street children to their origin, among other functions.

Responding on behalf of the members, Sheikh Daurawa explained that what happened in the recent protest during which street children were seen commiting a lot of havocs was a clear indicator that all was not well and something need to be done to address the challenge.

Sheikh Daurawa also stated that Kano State Hisbah Board made some discoveries about some buildings and areas being occupied by homeless people of both sexes where a lot of children were born and even raised under such situations.

According to him, the board had to alert and request for the state government to approve the setting up of the committee.

The committee chairman also extended their their appreciations to the government and assured to work diligently for the realization of the set goals.
