KNSG Reaffirms Commitment to Improving Healthcare,Child Nutrition and Welfare

The Kano State Government has reiterated its strong commitment to enhancing healthcare services, with particular attention to child nutrition and welfare.

This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Information, and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, during a community sensitization campaign on exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of a child’s life, held in Dokasoye primary health center within Garin Malam Local Government Area.

Represented by the Director of Planning in the Ministry, Alhaji Ibrahim Hussaini, the Commissioner explained that the campaign was organized to enlighten parents, community leaders, and civil society organizations on the importance of exclusive breastfeeding and to encourage their active participation in promoting the initiative.

He further stated that the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has invested heavily in healthcare, ensuring better access and services for the general public.

In his goodwill message, the Chairman of Garin Malam Local Government Council, Barrister Salisu Kadawa, represented by the Council Secretary, Jamila Uba Mustapha, expressed delight that the state government selected the area to host such an important awareness campaign.

He pledged the council’s full cooperation and support toward the success of the program.

Also speaking, Mrs. Aisha, a representative of the State Ministry of Health and an officer in charge of Human Nutrition, delivered a detailed lecture on the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding within the first six months of life.

She emphasized that proper breastfeeding ensures strong immunity and overall healthy growth for infants.

In his remarks, the District Head of Garin Malam, Sarkin Fulani Jaizanawa, Alhaji Abubakar Gwadabe, represented by the Village Head of Dagasoye, Dandano Ibrahim Yada Kwari, called on local leaders, community heads, and religious scholars to continue supporting government initiatives aimed at improving child health and nutrition.

The event was attended by notable personalities including the representative of the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Alhaji Sadiq, the Spokesperson of the Councilors, Aliyu Abdulhamid, and the Head of Personnel Management of Garin Malam Local Government, Alhaji Umar Kura.
