The Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA), in collaboration with the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) and the State Primary Healthcare Management Board (SPHCMB), has commenced the statewide Reaccreditation and Data Validation exercise across 381 Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) in Kano State.
The exercise is aimed at strengthening healthcare service delivery, ensuring compliance with quality standards, and enhancing access to affordable healthcare services under key health financing mechanisms, particularly the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF).
Teams comprising officials from KSCHMA, NHIA, and SPHCMB have been deployed across the state to conduct comprehensive assessments of healthcare facilities, focusing on infrastructure, availability of skilled personnel, service delivery capacity, and adherence to operational guidelines.

As part of the first day of field activities, Team 2 visited PHCs in Madobi Local Government Area, including Akilu Memorial PHC, Chinkoso PHC, Gora PHC, Kafin Agur PHC, and Burji PHC. The visits featured on-site inspections and data validation to ensure compliance with required standards.

Speaking on the commencement of the exercise, the Executive Secretary of KSCHMA, Dr. Rahila Aliyu Muktar, stated that the initiative aligns with the Kano First Agenda of Abba Kabir Yusuf, which prioritizes accessible and quality healthcare for all.
“This exercise underscores our commitment to building a responsive and inclusive healthcare system. By ensuring that only qualified facilities provide services, we are improving quality, accountability, and access to care—especially for vulnerable populations,” she said.
She added that the exercise will help identify gaps in human resources, including shortages of doctors and skilled birth attendants, as well as infrastructure and service delivery challenges, to inform targeted interventions.
