Better Opportunities for Optimal Services and Targeted Immunization for Zero-Dose and Under-Immunized Children (BOOST) project Nigeria, in collaboration with the Kano State Community of Practice (COP) on Immunization Budget Tracking, Advocacy, and Accountability, has successfully held its quarterly review meeting to evaluate progress and strategize for future quarters.

The meeting served as both a reflective session and a planning ground for upcoming milestones.
BOOST Project Manager Abdullahi Magama announced with appreciation that the project has been granted a five-year extension.
As the next phase of the project is officially scheduled to kick off on January 1, 2028, and run through December 31, 2031.
Magama noted that this quarterly review offers a critical window to evaluate past challenges and refine strategies to ensure the upcoming phase is even more impactful.
Umar Ibrahim Umar, the BOOST Project Advocacy Officer, outlined the primary objectives of the session, which focused on aligning current efforts with long-term goals:
Reviewing the implementation, challenges, and solutions from the COP Q1 and Q2 2026 work plans.
Designing and scheduling key advocacy activities for the third quarter of 2026.
Updating the BOOST project stakeholder database to reflect the current landscape of partners and influencers in Kano State.
During the meeting, members broke into interactive working groups to review the 2026 work plan templates and identify outstanding advocacy gaps across the state.

Addressing the participants, the COP Co-Chair Salisu Yusuf urged members to renew their dedication, emphasizing that active commitment is vital to sustaining the progress of immunization tracking and accountability in Kano.
The session concluded with the integration of actionable recommendations and next steps into the work plan, focusing on sustained, targeted advocacy to both public and private sector stakeholders in the state.
The BOOST Project in Nigeria is an initiative sponsored by GSK and implemented by Save the Children International (SCI) to close gaps in routine immunization coverage.
It focuses on protecting zero-dose and under-immunized children and advocating for increased local government investment in primary healthcare.
