In a press statement issued by the public relations officer of the ministry Nabilusi Abubakar Kofar Na’isa, said the event, which attracted stakeholders from government, academia, and the health sector, showcased critical data from the Retrospect Phase of the project, including the Verbal and Social Autopsy components.

These components provided in-depth insights into the underlying causes of mortality and the social determinants of health in Kano State.

According to the statement, the Kano state commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, who graced the event alongside senior Ministry officials, commended the research team for their dedication and thorough work.

He noted that he had anticipated the final report for over a year, emphasizing its importance in guiding strategic health planning.

“These findings offer a clear roadmap for reducing maternal mortality and improving health outcomes across Kano State,” Dr. Yusuf stated.

“I am pleased to announce that the comprehensive report will take it to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, for policy consideration and further implementation.”

Distinguished academics and research experts, including Professor Ahmad Maifada Yakasai, Professor Baba Maiyaki Musa, and Professor Hadiza Shehu Galadanci, played key roles in the project’s success and were present to share insights from the research.

“This initiative reflects the importance of aligning research with policy,” said Professor Galadanci.

“By leveraging accurate data, Kano State is setting a benchmark for evidence-based healthcare decision-making.”

The dissemination event underscores the state government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening health systems and improving service delivery.
