The President of Barau FC, Shawwal Barau Jibrun has strongly denied widespread report alleging that the club has arbitrarily slashed the salaries of its players and technical staff without justification.
Describing the story as misleading the President clarified that the temporary salary adjustment for October and November was a strategic decision aimed at addressing the team’s underperformance in the current 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
He stated clearly that Barau FC has always prioritized the welfare of its players and staff, and is one of the few clubs known for giving adequate support and welfare of it’s players and technical crew.
To strengthen the club’s performance, he revealed the appointment of Dominic Lofa as General Manager and Kabiru Baita to work closely in identifying solutions that will return the Maliya Boys to winning track.
“The decision was never taken without reason, the President said. It became necessary to trigger a sense of urgency within the technical team and ensure a stronger response to the team’s recent poor results,” he said.
He reaffirmed that Barau FC was established to develop sports in the state and empower youth through job creation, not to punish or neglect anyone.
The President urged fans to disregard fake report that there is no reason for the slash of the salary.
He urged the fans to continue to pray for the club success and and assured that bonuses and salaries could be increased if the team assumes it’s top three position before or by the end of the season.
