Significant progress has been recorded in the ongoing Measles-Rubella immunization exercise, following the dedication of health personnel, relevant stakeholders, and the active cooperation of parents and guardians across Dala Local Government Area.
The Chairman of the council, Alhaji Surajo Ibrahim Imam, made this known during the “Evening Review” session held on the day eighth of the exercise to assess the level of implementation and achievements recorded so far.
Alhaji Surajo Imam emphasized the importance of prioritizing primary healthcare delivery, noting that the council remains committed with a view to ensuring all eligible children receive the vaccines they require for complete protection.
In his remarks, the Primary Healthcare Coordinator of the area, Alhaji Isah Aminu (Kofar Nassarawa), commended the close supervision and involvement of the council chairman, describing it as a major source of motivation for the health workers to perform their duties effectively.
Also speaking, the local Immunization Officer, Alhaji Bello Sani Ahmed Getso alongside the Health Educator , Alhaji Umar Muktar Modibbo, disclosed that approximately 296,746 children were targeted for the Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccination, Total MR Immunized 237, 623 total coverage from day One to day eight 80% while 141,324 children are expected to receive the Polio Vaccine OPV across the Local Government Area. They delightfully added that the exercise had so far achieved 89% of its coverage from day one to day eight which according to him indicates remarkable success.
He however called on parents and guardians not to hesitate in bringing their children to health centres for routine immunization to barricade them against preventable childhood diseases.
The review meeting was attended by representatives from international health agencies including WHO, UNICEF, and other key stakeholders at both state and national levels.
