KANO GOVERNMENT URGE CITIZENRY ON SUBMISSION OF PRIORITIZED DEVELOPMENTAL NEEDS

Kano State Commissioner for Rural and Community Development, Dr. Abdulkadir Abdussalam, has enjoined citizens to present their priority developmental needs through their ward heads and councillors for proper consideration and implementation by current administration.

Dr. Abdussalam was speaking during a Town Hall meeting held in Dala Local Government Area which brought together ward and, district heads, community leaders, councillors, government officials, and other key stakeholders.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Musbahu Ahmad Badawi, the Commissioner explained that the exercise was aimed at collecting grassroots demands in line with the directive of the Executive Governor of the State.

He noted that as Kano continue to grow in size, population, and economic growth the government must remain proactive in providing infrastructure and policies that will sustain peace and accelerate development.

According to Alhaji Badawi, citizens’ requests will be documented in a data system where all submissions can be reviewed and processed efficiently.

He explained that a special mechanism has been evolved to ensure proper handling of the subject matter.

He further revealed that after collating the requests, a Rural Development Summit will be convened where experts will evaluate them.

He pointed out that the summit will determine which project Falls under the responsibility of local governments, the state, the federal government, or donor agencies.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Dala Local Government Council , Alhaji Surajo Ibrahim Imam, commended the initiative, describing it as a people-driven process that prioritizes community needs over leadership preferences.

He stressed the importance of empowering ward heads, suggesting that they have to be provided with office mobility (such as motorcycles), and allowances to support them in observing their laid down engagements.

Also speaking, the Council’s Director of Administration and General Services, Alhaji Bakari Abba, admonished the citizenry on the need to actively identify meaningful projects within their communities to ensure proper delivery of dividends of democracy.

Similarly , District Head of Gobirawa and Dan Amar of Kano, Alhaji Aliyu Harazumi, underscored the need for the provision of offices to districts and ward heads to enhance their service delivery.

He further prayed for Allah’s  guidance and successful implementation of the programme.

The event was well attended by senior officials of the Ministry of Rural and Urban Development, security agencies, directors, councillors, advisers, and other public dignitaries.
