The Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS), has inaugurated 12 governing board members in Kano State, to strengthen its humanitarian services to communities and vulnerable persons.
The inauguration of the board members, according to its Branch Executive Secretary, Alhaji Musa Abdullahi, marks a crucial step in strengthening the society’s ability to deliver humanitarian services.
Abdullahi, who listed such services as emergency shelter, food, water, and medical care, within the affected communities of Kano, said the theme is, “Empowering Humanitarian Leadership For a Stronger Tomorrow.”
According to him, the newly inaugurated members were reelected for a second tenure of four years, having contributed immensely to the success of the society in their first tenure.
“We are always working closely with both the state and local governments to assist vulnerable people in their respective communities.
“Today’s inauguration is another opportunity for us to give more support, especially in disaster response during the rainy season,”he said.
Abdullahi explained that the society in collaboration with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), had earmarked support for 20 Local Government Areas in Kano.
He added that 3,180 volunteers will conduct house-to-house campaigns on measles vaccination across the state between September and October, describing the feat as one of the great achievements the society ha recorded.

The inauguration was attended by the Kaduna State Branch Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Jibril, with the support of the Katsina Branch, led by Malam Bala Abdullahi.
