The Kano State Ministry of Education has convened an inter-agency meeting on the Accelerated Basic Education Programme (ABEP), with support from Plan International, aimed at enhancing access to quality education for out-of-school children across the state.
The meeting brought together key stakeholders to share updates on the European Union (EU) consortium project and to further strengthen the Accelerated Education Working Group (AEWG) in Kano State.
In his presentation, the Special Adviser to the Executive Governor on Education Reforms, Haladu Muhammad, emphasized the importance of reinforcing the Accelerated Education Working Group (AEWG) to improve coordination among stakeholders.
He highlighted ongoing efforts to support learning centres and promote the mainstreaming of beneficiaries into formal education systems, in line with the state government’s commitment to inclusive and equitable education.
He reiterated Kano State Government’s commitment to strengthening partnerships and implementing impactful programmes that will expand educational opportunities for all children, particularly those previously excluded from the formal education system.
Earlier, the Director of Development Partners Support and Coordination, Dr Lukman Tajo Siraj, outlined the objectives of the meeting, stressing the need for sustained collaboration, effective implementation strategies, and improved data sharing among partners involved in the ABEP initiative.
In his closing remarks, the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics of the Ministry of Education, Yusha’u Hamza Kafinchiri, commended development partners for their continued support towards the success of ABEP in Kano State.
He gave special recognition to Plan International for sponsoring the meeting and appreciated all stakeholders for their active participation and contributions, which ensured a successful engagement.
