New York, USA – Oluronke O. Ojeikere, founder of the Society to Heighten Awareness of Women and Children Abuse (SOTHAWACA), addressed a strategic engagement session on digital inclusion at the United Nations in New York.
As a passionate advocate for women’s rights and inclusion, Ojeikere emphasized the importance of bridging the digital divide and promoting gender equality.
According to Ojeikere, women’s limited access to technology hinders their education, economic participation, and social empowerment.
She highlighted several challenges that women face in the digital sphere, including affordability, digital literacy gaps, cultural biases, and online harassment.
To address these challenges, Ojeikere outlined SOTHAWACA’s action plan, which includes policy advocacy, capacity-building programs, partnerships, and media-driven awareness campaigns.
She emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to amplify women’s digital voices and promote inclusive policies.
Ojeikere’s call to action was directed at key stakeholders, including the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), and other organizations committed to promoting women’s empowerment and digital inclusion.
