The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kano State Command, has achieved a significant milestones in its relentless fight against drug-related offenses.
Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics Sadiq, (ASN) Muhammad Maigatari Public Relations Officer National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Kano State Command made this known in a statement.
He said the Agency secured multiple convictions in one day, demonstrating its unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law and maintaining a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption.
He also said Ibrahim Tahir, ‘M’, 25, was convicted on three separate counts related to drug offenses, with each carrying a 3-year sentence to be served consecutively, totaling 9 years in prison.
Additionally, he stated, James Temitope Ajayi, ‘M’, 40, an ex-convict and notorious distributor of Cannabis Sativa (CS), was convicted and sentenced to 7 years in prison for trafficking illicit substances.
ASN Maigatari added that Temitope’s conviction is particularly significant, given his history of trafficking and distributing illicit substances across regional lines.
He stressed that these convictions demonstrate the NDLEA’s unwavering commitment to combating drug-related offenses and upholding the rule of law in line with the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa’s (Retd), mission of ensuring a drug-free society.
The State Commander Mr. CN AI Ahmad acknowledges and appreciates the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer’s support that has been very instrumental in achieving this milestone.
He also extends appreciation to the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alh. Abba Kabir Yusuf, for his commitment to combating drug abuse in the state.
He pointed out that the state commander acknowledges the crucial role of Justice MS Shuaibu, who delivered the verdicts, and the command’s prosecution and legal services unit for their tireless efforts in securing the convictions.
