A Senior Advocate of Nigeria -SAN, Professor Mamman Lawan Yusufari has emphasized the positive role being played by state security outfit especially in the North East, South South and recently in Katsina and others states in the Northwest region.

Briefing our correspondent Nura Bala Ajingi on the issue, Professor Yusufari stressed the need for similar outfit in Kano to tackle Daba and other criminal activities as well as banditry and kidnapping threats from the neighbouring states surrounding Kano.
Professor Mamman Yusufari who is a former Dean Faculty of law Bayero University Kano, explained that due to insecurity challenges in some states agitations to create state police or security outfits continue to increase from patriotic citizens, civil society, security Consultants and state government officials to address the issue of insecurity across the country.
He added that the formation and active role of Civilian Joint Task Forces in Borno and Yobe, Amotekun in South West, South East was a clear testimony of the positive role of such forces in tackling criminal activities such as insurgency, armed banditry, kidnapping and armed robbery among others.

.Professor Mamman Lawan Yusufari warned states officials to avoid use of such forces for political interest, witch hunting rival party members and manipulation or elections rigging.
Professor Yusufari who described security as basic role of government, said there is need for Northern states governments to establish similar forces with good intentions based on provision of the law for peace and stability in the region.
