Kano State Government has partnered Nigerian Youths Service Corps (NYSC) to establish Climate Change Community Development Service (CDS) Group across the state.
The state Commissioner of Environment and Climate Change, Dr. Dahiru M. Hashim disclosed this during a visit to the state NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Kusala Dam, Karaye Local Government Area of the state.

He said the essence of the visit is to formalize the establishment of the group and that the platform is designed to integrate corps members into Kano’s climate resilience efforts.
He added that part of the activities of the Climate Change CDS Group will focus on tree planting, waste management, community sensitization, and supporting the implementation of the Kano State Climate Change Policy.
The purpose of this engagement was to formalize the establishment of the Climate Change Community Development Service (CDS) Group, a platform designed to integrate corps members into Kano’s climate resilience efforts.
“I am pleased to announce that the NYSC State Coordinator, approved this initiative. The Climate Change CDS Group will focus on tree planting, waste management, community sensitization, and supporting the implementation of the Kano State Climate Change Policy of His Excellency Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf.

“I assured the State Coordinator of our ministry’s commitment to fully utilize corps members’ skills in these critical programs, ensuring their service year contributes meaningfully to environmental protection,” he said.
