KANO TASK FORCE ON MOBILIZATION OF VOTERS REGISTRATION DIVIDED TO SUBCOMMITTEES

In a bid to effectively discharge its responsibilities, the Kano State Task Force on Mobilization of Voters Registration has been divided into subcommittees.

The Chairman of the Task Force and Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, announced the formation of the subcommittees at a meeting held on Monday in his office.

The subcommittees include:

1. Publicity/Sensitization

2. Engagements with Local Governments

3. Engagement with Women groups and organizations

3. Engagement with Students and Youth groups

4. Engagement with Religious leaders

5. Engagement with Traditional Institutions

5. Engagement with Business Community

6 Engagement with Civil Society Organizations, NGOs / persons with special disabilities

6. Information and Communication Technology (ITC)

7 Data Collection and Analysis

8. Engagement with Transport workers (NURTW, NATO, and Tricycle Riders)

9. Engagement with Fulani Community

Waiya explained that the division into subcommittees was aimed at ensuring smooth engagement with various stakeholders in the state, to ensure effective delivery of the mandate of the Task Force.

He tasked the subcommittees to develop engagement templates and work plan within three days from the date of the formation of the sub committees for consideration, harmonization, and presentation to the central coordinating team of the Task Force.

The Chairman noted that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has acknowledged and appreciated the committee’s efforts since its inauguration.

Waiya emphasized that members should be driven by patriotism and sacrifice in mobilizing people to obtain their voter cards.

Earlier, INEC Voter Education Officer Garba Ashiru delivered a lecture on the registration process, to further educate the members on the registration process to be able to guide the people properly.
