Kano Health commissioner Receives Presidential Award For Excellence on Public Health

The Honourable Commissioner for Health in Kano State Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf,  has been lauded for his transformative leadership in public health, receiving a prestigious Certificate of Recognition for Excellence in Public Health Transformation.

The award, presented by Dr. Salma Anas Ibrahim, the adviser to the President on Health, acknowledges Dr. Yusuf’s tireless dedication to enhancing the well-being of Kano’s citizens through innovative healthcare initiatives.

The recognition highlights the significant improvements Dr. Yusuf has spearheaded across the state’s healthcare system as Commissioner for Health.

His commitment to addressing pressing health challenges, from disease prevention to improving access to quality care, has been instrumental in reshaping Kano’s healthcare landscape.

The award was presented on February 18, 2025, at a Strategic Health Summit held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja, organized to recognize Heroes of Health across the country.

“This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire team at the Ministry of Health,” stated Dr. Yusuf upon receiving the honor. “We remain committed to building a healthier Kano for all, ensuring that every citizen has access to the quality healthcare they deserve.” Dr. Yusuf also acknowledged the vigorous support of the Governor of Kano State, His Excellency Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, in driving the state’s healthcare transformation.

The award serves as both an affirmation of past achievements and a renewed impetus for continued progress in transforming healthcare delivery within the state.
