The federal government has commissioned an Automotive Training and CNG Conversion Center in Gainawa town in Karfi, Kura local government area.
Speaking at the event the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite said the center was the first to be launched across Nigeria with the aim of developing modern vehicle repair and providing many young people the opportunity to learn vehicles repair and to develop their mechanical skills.
She said that the ministry is working tirelessly to ensure that 40% of automobile spare parts are produce in Nigeria to achieve the government’s policies of industrial development.
She appealed to Kano state government, members of Nigeria Automobile Technicians Association (NATA) and the youth to make good use of the center to learn modern techniques in vehicle repair and it’s maintenance for them to be self-reliant.
The permanent Secretary of the Ministry ambassador Nura Abba Rimi said the Ministry will build additional 15 centers.
In his speech the Director General of National Automotive Design and Development Council Mr. Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin said the center has been provided with all the necessary modernized equipments. The President of NATA Engr. Mohd Sani promised to use the center to develop their mechanical profession and requested the government to provide them with soft loans to start manufacturing spare parts and other vehicles for the development of their business and the economy of the country..
