The Kano state Director National Orientation Agency, Alhaji Nura Liman stated this while declaring a one day sensitization meeting on implementation of social mobilization strategies in Kano on how to improve birth certificate registration at grassroot levels, held at Gwale local government Islamic center hall.
According to the press release issued to pressmen by the Kano Municipal zonal information officer, Abdullahi Musa Gyadi Gyadi
it added that, Alhaji Nura Liman commended the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Funds (UNICEF), in conjunction with the National Population Commission (NPC) with his Agency for organizing the meeting aimed at enhancing the proper implementation of social strategies for increasing birth registration among children under the age of one year.
The State NOA Director also enjoined all the participants to ensure they give their quota towards educating the community on the importance of the exercise.
Speaking on the objectives of the meeting, the state NOA head of media and communication, Hajiya Hauwa Adamu Garba spoke at length on the sensitization campaign.
She called on the stakeholders to map out all strategies in strengthening community awareness and participation in birth registration for every child’s birth for documentation and their inclusions in national identity and it would assist in improving access to essential social services as well as to uphold every Nigerian child’s right to identity and protection.
The state National population commission representative, Alhaji Mahmud Rabi’u and that of National identity management agency, Alhaji Umar Abdullahi emphasized on the critical importance of early birth registration as a foundation for effective planning, policy implementation, and child welfare programmes.
They also commended traditional and community leaders from Municipal, Gwale, Dala and Fagge local governments for their continued support and commitment to promote child rights and developments.
At the end of the meeting, participants grouped themselves according to their respective local governments and presented various strategies for smooth mobilization exercise on the program.
