The Nigerian Correctional Service, Kano State Command under the Stewardship of Controller of Corrections Kano Ado Inuwa through its Inmates Continuing Education and in Collaboration with the Association of School Recitation Competition (RABIDA) has organized the Qur’anic recitation competition among the inmates in Three Custodial Centres in the State.

This is in line with re-branding and re-positioning their lives to become highly productive to the larger Society after serving their Jail term and as well to make the Nation proud of them in line with the Correctional Service Act 2019.
CSC Musbahu lawan K/Nassarawa, Public Relations Officer. NCoS Kano State Command maintained that the core value of staging the event is to among others influence the behavioral and attitudinal changes positively of the inmates of the facilities in the State to change their behavior and the mindset of the public positivity and to avoid stigmatization of the inmates.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Association of the Quranic Reciters, Goni Shuaibu Shehu expressed gratitude to the Controller of Corrections Kano State and his Management for giving them the opportunity to organize the Competition among the inmates in the State.
He similarly thump up the Controller General of Corrections for providing the enabling environment to the inmates for reformatory programs and some religious activities.
The Chairman also appreciated the Coordinator of the Command Chaplain DSC Murtala Nasidi Kabara and Co Members for imparting Qur’anic knowledge to the inmates of Custodial Centres for preparing them to be good Ambassadors in future.
He then dwelt on the Inmates and urged them to use the knowledge they acquired to pursue their Education up to the University level upon their released.
While delivering a key note address, the Controller of Correctional Service, Kano State Command, Ado Inuwa appreciated the role of the Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammadu Sunusi 11 for his steadfastness in advancing the course of Islam and for his intervention during the just concluded Misabaka and also appreciated organisers (RABIDA) for their commitments and assured them of continued supports at all times.

The overall winner of the Competition is from the Medium Security, Kurmawa where he received the gift prize of N100,000 where as the second best winner received the gift prize of N50,000 and is from Goron Dutse Custodial Centre and the third position inmates from Janguza received the gift prize of the sum of N20,000.
The Judges of the Competition are Goni Hafiz Mohd Dan Birni, and Goni Aminu Hassan Gaya.
Amongst the dignitaries that graced the occasion are;- Chairperson prerogative of mercy Haj Azumi Bebeji, and the representative of the Commissioner of the Women Affairs Kano and other Government officials.
