Nigerian Air Force 455 Base Services Group Kano reiterate improving welfare of Veterans

The Commander, 455 Base Services Group of the Nigerian Air Force, Kano, Group Captain Mustapha Sulaiman has reiterated the Nigerian Air Force commitment to give all the necessary assistance for the welfare of it’s Veterans.

Group Captain M. Sulaiman stated this at the 2024 Base Socio Cultural Activities (BASA) and the Chief of Air Staff Parley with Nigerian Air Force Veterans, organized by NAF in Kano, on Saturday.

He said the Parley initiated by the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, was to interact with section of the Veteran officers in order to ensure great connectivity between the current service men and veterans.

It will also serve as the best to know the challenge facing the veterans and ways to improve their welfare.

He also said that this administration has invested a lot on the welfare on the veterans and enhancing institutional sustainability.

The 455 Base Services Group organized a lecture on the soft skills to improve income in retirement and interactive session with the veterans.

An award was presented to Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, for his excellent contribution towards promoting peace and unity in the state.

The Governor was represented by Air Commodore Sani Abdullahi Zakari (Rtd), who spoke on behalf of other veterans expressed joy on the establishment of the veterans Parley by the Chief of Air Staff to enable the current service men to share first hand experiences from the veteran to serve as mentorship..IMG 20250105 WA0218

” It will be recall the (West African Social Activities) known as Basa is actually from the Army event called WASA ( West African Social Activities), which was introduced after the world war and Nigerian Air Force then adopted it in the year 1996 when late Air Marshal Nsikak-Abasi Essien Eduok was the Chief of Air Staff as he named it  ‘Air Force reunion’ where retirees were called and thanked them for their service over the years, and was further emphasized by Air Marshal MD Umar in 2010 said SA Zakari (Rtd)”.

Group Captain Okafor was the first commander in Kano to organize the Base Socio-Cultural Activities (BASA) and Air Commodore Sani Abdullahi Zakari (Rtd) was the first to do it in NAF Minna in December 2013.

Hausa, Igbo Yoruba and Tug of War-Magajiya Teams displayed their cultural dance performance in the BASA 2024.
