Kano state Government has filed a case against six private schools for illegal operations.
The Executive Secretary of Kano Private and Voluntary Institutions Board, Alhaji Baba Abubakar Umar disclosed this while briefing newsman at Gidan Malamai in kano metropolis.
He said the case was filed to restore law and order in the operations of private schools under the supervision of the Board.
Alhaji Baba Abubakar Umar explained that the board is currently supervising private schools to ensure compliance with the laid down rules and regulations in their operations.
He also disclosed that the Board has received complaints from parents on the arbitrary increase in school fees by some private schools and forcing them to buy uniforms, textbooks and cardigans among other unnecessary materials.
The Executive Secretary further charged owners of Private schools to ensure the recruitment of qualified teachers and pay them based on proportionate salary scale and stick to government teaching curriculum.
while urging parents to pay school fees as and when due, Alh Baba Umar called on them to report any school that illegally increases fees and other unnecessary charges to the board for appropriate action.
He assured that the Board would be fair and just in dealing with owners of Private schools and will continue to work within the confines of the 2014 law which mandated the board to check any excesses by private schools against parents.
He then assured the public that the board would live up to the expectations of stakeholders and the extant laws establishing the Board.
