Little did anyone imagine that the young and promising Khadija Abdullahi Maikano, who was among hundreds of Kano state indigenes awarded overseas scholarships by the incumbent administration of His Excellency, Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf, would distinguish herself on the global stage where she made Kano proud by emerging as the Best Outgoing International Student (Postgraduate) among students from over 85 different countries at one of the prestigious Universities in India.
This significant achievement showcases the unwavering commitment of the state government towards prioritizing education, which is receiving top most priority and even allocated a lion share in the state’s budgetary provisions which surpassed that of International standard.
Khadija Abdullahi Maikano has proven that investing in education truly pays. Through her remarkable academic excellence, she was announced the best International student by the University which qualifies her for the prestigious Chancellor’s Gold Medal Award for Best Outgoing International Postgraduate Student, an honor strictly reserved for the very best among the bests.
The university, one of the frontline leading Universities in the World “Deemed universities”in India, held its 22nd Convocation in a flamboyant ceremony where Khadija Abdullahi Maikano was eloquently was presented with the prestigious Chancellor’s Award.
To crown it all, the Honorable Minister of External Affairs of the Government of India, Dr. S. Jaishankar, presented the award to the recipient himself, an indigene of Kano, who studied under the full sponsorship of His Excellency, Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf, for her postgraduate program. What a proud moment!

Khadija Abdullahi Maikano also graduated with a First class in MBA in Hospital and Healthcare Management program from among 101 indian and 9 international students in the program.
She received this highly coveted and hard-earned Topper Award from the Provost of the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, Professor Dr. Rajiv Yeravdekar.
All these encomiums were showered on this icon and worthy representative of Kano State at the university, and all these were made possible through the instrumentality, foresight and visionary leadership sterling qualities of the Executive Governor, Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf, who selected her from among thousands of students in Kano State to undertake this program.
Against this backdrop, it is highly imperative for all and sundry to support the incumbent administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in his drive to make Kano a role model among its contemporaries in the nation, in consideration of the unwavering commitment to socio-economic and human capital development, among many other initiatives by the State government.
This global exposure has empowered Khadija to acquire world-class knowledge and leadership competencies, enabling her to continue shining brightly, courtesy of the visionary leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
This academic excellence and breakthrough do not come as a surprise, initially even before her departure to India as overseas students,Khadijah displayed high sense of academic tolerance right from her Secondary Days, she had been a Student of many plus in her Class which made her talk of the day in the yesteryears of her Secondary education.
She attended NAF Staff Secondary School for her junior Education and attended Girls Science Secondary School.
On her quest to further her education she was offered admission to study Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from one of the first generation Universities that’s Ahmadu Bello University,Zaria were she graduated with flying colors.
All these prepared Little Khadija to emerged second runner-up in the 2024 Young Managers Competition organized by the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered), among over five hundred young managers who contested nationwide.
With the practical application of management principles and procedures, alongside strategic insight gained through the MBA program sponsored by the Kano State Government, Khadija Abdullahi Maikano remains forever grateful to His Excellency for this invaluable opportunity.
She reaffirms her total commitment to human development through her area of specialization, all made possible by the support of Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf.
It is only fitting that Khadija has the opportunity to personally express her gratitude, appreciation, and prayers to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, the people’s governor, who places service above self and firmly believes that building human capacity is the foundation of societal development as he remains constantly alert to issues affecting the overall development of the people of the state, irrespective of political inclinations or affiliations.
Indeed, Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf remains a steadfast leader who leads by example continuously and consistently stands at the forefront of the state’s development drives agenda.
In conclusion, this iconic and symbolic representative of Kano State on the international stage in faraway India, Khadija Abdullahi Maikano, now deserves to be fully considered by the State Government itself and to appropriately place her where she can deliver most effectively through her area of professionalism that’s Pharmacy.
From a reliable source she is now managing one outfit in one of the State in the federation.
But how one will feel when she is being given
an appointment in one of the National Primary Health Care Agencies, surely Caesar is given what belongs to Caesar.
At this point we know and of course every body that the Executive Governor has very good listening ears and instantly responds to requests at a blink of an eye, with that we hope,pray and solicit the cooperation of the Peoples Governor Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf to push forward and secure direct appointment to young promising Khadijah Abdullahi MaiKano who stand taller than her contemporaries in making Kano a talk of the day and make Kano proud of her Academic breakthrough.
As time may tell later,how would Little Khadijah feel if she finds herself holding a top caliber Office like Permanent Secretary in the Federal Government, surely she will also be another Abba Kabir Yusuf there, where she will engage and appoints Kano Youth to strategic positions.
